Open cell foams
Open cell foams have mostly open cells, making them less dense and more compressible than closed cell foams. They are permeable to liquids and gases, which makes them unsuitable for sealing applications.
Open cell foams are popular for mattresses and pillows because they allow air to pass through, keeping them cool. They are also used for kitchen sponges, mop heads, and other cleaning products because they hold and release water effectively.
Additionally, open cell foams are used as filter materials because the size and amount of open cells can be adjusted to control the flow of air or water. They are also used in acoustics for noise absorption, as the open cell structure allows sound waves to be absorbed rather than reflected.
